Where are they now: Ardi graduated from SMC in the spring of 2016 and shortly thereafter was hired by SMC to be an Admissions Counselor.
I am Ardi Samonte. I am a 5'11'', filipino male that has a big heart to serve others. I love photography, videography, making music, being active, and making an impact on peoples lives. At the end of the day, if I was able to put a smile on someone's face, that puts a smile on mine.
With the foundation of Micah 6:8 as our principle statement, I can honestly say that I learned in a two month intensive fellowship how to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly.
C. Kim Sierra
Where are they now: Kim graduated from USD in the spring of 2016 and is now serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA member at Alameda Point Collaborative and SMC.
Kim is currently a student at the University of San Diego working towards an International Business Major and a double Minor in French and Leadership with a Non-Profit Management certificate. She loves to travel and experience new cultures and recently studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence to improve her French. She is passionate about social justice issues and one of her favorite things to do is visit Southwest Key, an immigrant youth shelter, to do activities and share stories with the children.
Where are they now: Suze graduated from SMC in the spring of 2016 and is currently living and serving in Minneapolis, MN as a Lasallian Volunteer.
Hi, my name is Suzanne Denson and I am currently a junior, Business Administration major with a concentration in Finance. While at Saint Mary’s I have enjoyed a lot of amazing volunteer opportunities through Janterm, the Lasallian and Santiago Living learning communities, and CILSA’s Saturday of Service. I am looking forward to spending this summer with an incredible community of SMC and USD students as a part of the Summer Fellowship Program. One of my favorite quotes is from Mother Teresa, “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.
Being a part of the MICAH Summer Fellowship has been truly a transformative experience for me.
Where are they now: Dimitri is a senior at SMC and is continuing his Psychology studies. He is a Resident Advisor for the Santiago Living/Learning community on campus.
I am a very focused and driven individual. I strive to do my best in all areas of life and don't settle for mediocrity. I am also an avid sports fanatic. Go Yankees!
Where are they now: Kelly is now the full time "Changemaker Teacher" at the San Diego Collaborative Charter School - A USD Partner.
Kelly Lonergan is a recent USD graduate, where she studied English Literature and was a student leader in the Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness, and Social Action. She is an avid reader and writer, a lover of yoga and English Breakfast tea, and is 22 years into her lifelong quest to find the perfect cup of hot chocolate.
Where are they now: Sam is now a senior at USD. He is an active leader in USD's Outdoor aAdventures Programs and is one of the Co-Directors in the Mulvaney Center.
I am someone who is concerned about environmentalism and food justice. I believe in love and having fun, and that anyone can find freedom wherever they are at any time.
Where are they now: Madison went on to win USD's Woman of Impact award in 2015 and is now a senior at USD.
I am a sophomore originally from a big family in Minnesota. I am studying Visual Arts and Art History, and love the way that art allows us to explore ourselves and our surroundings in an experiential way. I'm so excited to be a MICAH fellow, and am most looking forward to exploring how to build a sense of community in which people are free to exist as authentic versions of themselves.
Where are they now: Ryan is now a junior at SMC and is continuing his Integral Studies Program. He is a team leader in CILSA's Jumpstart Program.
My name is Ryan Villegas. I went to Damien High School in Southern California and I am currently a freshman in the Integral Program at St. Mary's College of California. Attending St. Mary's was an amazing decision because it helped me realize the value of community and how I can make a positive impact in the community. I'm grateful for the Lasallian core values that embody St. Mary's values, which greatly influenced my decision to serve through MICAH during the summer of 2015.

Where are they now: Zayra is a senior at SMC and is continuing her Politics Studies. In the summer of 2016 she spent a month living and serving at Maranyundo Girls School in Nyamata, Rwanda. Zayra is currently practicing her leadership capacities as a Senior Intern for CILSA's Social Action Leadership Team (SALT).
Hello, my name is Zayra Rivera and I am currently a first generation student at Saint Mary’s College of California, class of 2017. I am also highly connected to my hispanic heritage due to being born and raised on the east side of San Jose, California. Even as a young girl, I have always been passionate about education because of my upbringing and family values. As a Politics major with a minor in Spanish, I hope to pursue a career related to social justice in the future.
Where are they now: Eddie is now a senior at USD and is continuing his studies in Sociology. He is also working with USD's Ethnic Studies Department actively bringing awareness the Dakota Access Pipeline issue happening in Standing Rock, North Dakota.
Orange County born and raised, Eduardo Cervantes is a compassionate people person with a strong desire to help. Having endured many grave hardships throughout his journey from childhood into young adulthood, Eduardo is equipped with patience and perseverance. Still growing and developing as a leader, he is a passionate and creative individual with a willingness to learn and a thirst for knowledge.
Where are they now: Nance is a Co-Director in the Mulvaney Center at USD and has just recently completed the LSAT.
Nancy Sandoval is a sophomore at the University of San Diego and is majoring in Political Science and Spanish. She is passionate and dedicated to community involvement and looks forward to exploring how to implement the law to solve social injustices. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and spending time with family and friends.
